THE TENT

The Tent is a modern day forest horror with 80s slasher vibes sprinkled throughout.

A young woman named Heather goes for a jog in the forest, continuously passing a bright orange tent until the woods cave in on her and she has no other option to take shelter.

A simple concept that could have easily gone terribly wrong, done incredibly right. The pacing is great, the direction is clean with an intriguing performance from lead Marla Robison, and an overall crisp aesthetic.

One of the main things I appreciated most about this smart little short was the camera's ability to make the setting itself feel like the monster. The film makes you think the forest is watching her every move, an idea that anyone would agree is simply terrifying. I also can't stop thinking about the overhead drone shots of the gorgeous trees.

Another thing I really enjoyed was the eighties inspired score that builds and feels fantastical. Everything about this film was carefully thought out, which is apparent in it's execution. Catch The Tent now streaming on Amazon Prime, Vimeo, SofyTV, and Shorts TV.
