“ Kristen Stewart delivers an amazing performance”

SPENCER (2021)

THE PREMISE:

"Christmas holiday festivities are celebrated over a nightmarish weekend at the Queen’s estate, while Princess Diana and Prince Charles are on the brink of their divorce."

OUR [TO THE POINT] REVIEW:

If you do not enjoy horror films, you will hate this film. My mother, a huge fan of Princess Diana, asked me, “Oh! You know how much I love her, should I see this one?” and I immediately responded, “no, you should never, ever watch this.” I am not one of those types who obsesses over the Royal Family--but everyone knows and adores “The People’s Princess” Diana and I am guilty of that, too. This shows the darkest sides of Diana’s life. I never doubted the film would get dark--but how dark it got was disturbing and possibly triggering for many audiences.

The nightmare Diana was dealing with during all of her waking moments. She is  hallucinating her childhood memories, scarily bulimic, and a complete shell of herself. Kristen Stewart delivers an amazing performance I never want to witness again; aside from the last 15 minutes or so, and any scene with her children, as those were the only scenes I felt had any heart, warmth, or emotion to them. Pablo Larrain made exactly the film he wanted to make and he did it so well and committed, but I never have any desire to watch it again.

CONCLUSIVE VERDICT:

Thanks For Reading!
