 "...it was a true escape."

MOONFALL (2022)

THE "IMDB" PREMISE:

"A mysterious force knocks the moon from its orbit around Earth and sends it hurtling on a collision course with life as we know it."

OUR [TO THE POINT] REVIEW:

One thing’s for sure: when director Roland Emmerich is tasked with creating a larger-than-life, big budget brink-of-disaster dramady, he’s going to deliver. With Moonfall, he spared no expense - and the outcome is memorable to say the least.

The plot is so absurd I won’t even begin to attempt a recap - but imagine, if you will, a story pulled from a post written on a “conspiracy theory” subreddit by a couple of dudes who just smoked a bowl, and you’re pretty much there.

The script is often laughable, and at times the dialogue reaches M. Night Shyamalan levels of absurdity. For a film touted as one you “must see on IMAX” during promotions, the CGI is often shoddy, and green screened elements are at times painfully obvious.

Now, for the good stuff: the cast is jam-packed with talent, and a couple of heartfelt, charming performances from John Bradley and Patrick Wilson are what keep the film from being completely unwatchable.

The film is funny enough, and it features a cat named “Fuzz Aldrin” which ups the bar considerably, in my book.

It’s big. It’s loud. It’s silly. But you know what? I was never bored.

See it if you’re seeking an escape - but leave your common sense at the door.

CONCLUSIVE VERDICT:

Thanks For Reading!
