JOHN WICK 4 MAY BE FARTHER AWAY THAN WE THINK
Director Chad Stahelski has been busy the past couple years beginning with when he directed the original JOHN WICK alongside David Leitch. After the success of that, and the resurrection of Keanu Reeves' career, he returned solo for JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 2 and 3: PARABELLUM. Prior to his directorial debut for John Wick, Chad was primarily a stunt coordinator for films such as THE MATRIX trilogy, SPEED RACER, V FOR VENDETTA, BIRDS OF PREY, and even was the stunt double for Keanu Reeves in the original THE MATRIX. So Stahelski has had a long career in making action look fluent, energetic, and entertaining. He (dare I say) perfected the art of action in his JOHN WICK trilogy, and action scenes in other films are held to a "John Wick" level.
Stahelski has focused all his time as a director on the JOHN WICK series from the very beginning, and with Lionsgate already giving JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 4 a release date with no official word if the father of the series will return is a little scary. News now breaks that Stahelski is currently in talks to helm a new "original, high-concept car-focused action film" from the producers of A QUIET PLACE for Paramount Pictures.
So where does this leave JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 4? Well frankly it's up in the air. Paramount will have to push the date back or find another director to fill in Stahelski's shoes. Both aren't the greatest options for fans of the series, but the obvious answer is to delay the film. However nothing has changed at this moment in time, and Keanu will be up against Keanu on May 21, 2021.
