Edgar Wright Set to Direct Sci-Fi 'SET MY HEART TO FIVE'
Writer/Director Edgar Wright has made five films in his career, one television show and a short horror that stands before Quentin Tarantino/Robert Rodriquez’s Double Feature GRINDHOUSE, as well as successfully backing away from a massive Marvel Studios property. What I’m getting at here is that Wright takes his time with everything he does and his sixth film, LAST NIGHT AT SOHO is now exception. However everything seems to be full steam ahead for Wright’s latest outing apart from possibly a COVID-19 delay of some sort. As of now, LAST NIGHT IN SOHO is still in post and set for a U.S. release on September 25th, 2020 (but that could change).
So what’s Edgar Wright’s future plans? Does he have something already set up down the pipe-line? The answer is YES. Director Edgar Wright has signed on to direct SET MY HEART TO FIVE, an upcoming sci-fi film, based on the novel of the same name from Simon Stephenson, the author is set to adapt his own novel to the big screen. As usual Working Titles Films is producing the film with Focus Features set to distribute. The premise is as follows,
“SET MY HEART TO FIVE tells the story of an android in 2054 that goes on a mission to convince humans to allow his kind the ability to have feelings. The android, who is also a dentist, finds inspiration to seek love after watching ‘80s and ‘90s films.”
Currently the filmmaker has two projects on his plate at the moment, now signed on to do this new sci-fi film, as well as an original sequel for Sony for the 2017 hit BABY DRIVER. It’s difficult to say which film the filmmaker will lean into making first, if I had to take a big ole guess, it’ll be BABY DRIVER 2.
